Each one of us has a unique reason for trying to find a job. Some do for them to have something to do - an escape fromboredom. Others look for a job asan escape from or a solution to the dreaded squalor of poverty. And countless other reasons in between.
In trying to find a job, people do all sorts of things just to be able to get the all-encompassing precious job. Some read "how to find a good job" articles and handbooks. Others wear out manypairs of shoes going around town asking establishments for suitablejobs. Easiest is reaching for the telephone and use the Yellow Pages. Some people spend many hours composing the most impressive application letter. And more hours window-dressing theirrésumé. Still others prepare for the anticipated interview using the mirror as the imaginary would-be employer. There are those who spend considerable sums of money for a wardrobe that they hope to impress prospective employers with. The more serious type, usually with guidance from an equally serious set of parents, "follow every rule"from childhood to the completion of his or her education up to the submission of a job application letter to some future employer pre-qualified by one or both parents. The religious simply praysfor the ideal job.
Job search is just like any other animal. We have to treat it as just one part of a whole universe.We must view it from afar for us to objectively formulate and applythe most appropriate strategy tosuccessfully find a job.
How to Find a Good Job:
There are "musts" in order for usto find a job. While this guide is most applicable to the young whoare just approaching or are within the normal "productive age", the older species, even those approaching "senior citizenship", may partake of some,if not all of the following how to find a good job recipe:
1. Scan your environment for the kind of jobs available. The internet job search websites are the easiest and most economical tools.
2. Acquire the kind of education and training that will qualify you to the chosen type of job available in your environment's job market.
3. Submit a clear, well-written application letter with a comprehensive résumé to all prospective employers that fit to criteria/steps 1 and 2 above.
4. Based on the contents of the comprehensive résumé, mentally rehearse interviews (you can alsouse the mirror if that makes you comfortable) in broad perspective.
5. Make it a point to make politelyworded follow-ups.
6. Positive responses have to be treated objectively so as to be able to select the "best package" for your kind of person.
7. Negative responses are not to be treated as let-downs but as lessons for your next venture.
8. Do not lose hope. Only quitters lose.
